Data Base Lottery Ticket

This year, as 11th grade class in the ASB, the New York trip coresponds to us. You might not know this, but a trip to New York is pretty expensive, so we our permited to organize fund rasing activities, and like christmas is comming, we have decided to prepare a christmas basket, with it's corresponding raffel.

But the tikets didn't appear suddenly, they were made by our trip leader, John Asensi. He used a database program to creat them, Filemaker Pro to be precise. What is a database program? Well, database programs are used to store greart amounts of information. The data is stored the following way, the firt "folder" to call it in some way, is the record, a persons medical record for example, then would come the fields, name surname telephone for example, and finally the data, that would be your information that goes in the fields.

This is one of the many things you can do with these programs called database programs.

RSS

Ever wondered what RSS stands for? Me neither, but it is a very interesting. RSS stands for Rich Site Summary, witch is the sharing of content among different web sites, usually TV shows, newspaper columns. It was originally created by Netscape, it is most comonly used forheadline distribuating on the internet. Let me give you an example, a random web site wants to to let other websites allow them to publish some of its contents. Well the website must creat a RSS document and register it with an RSS publisher. Once this is done, the person that is reading can now publish it or re-use it in any diferent website. Another thing you can do with RSS is "RSS Feed" witch is basically sending your content to anybody who wants it.

The first version to ever appear was created on March 15, 1999, only it was called RSS 0.90 by Netscape(as mention before). Since that day many versions have come out, the last one came out on March ·0th 2009, but this time it was called "RSS 2.0 Version 2.0.11, so you can imagine how many versions have come out since March 15 1999, quite a few.

My Dream Trip To New York

Can there be a perfect trip? I'm not sure that is possible, but I'm pretty sure that we can have a great time during our stay in New York.

I have no idea what we are going to do but I guess we will walk walk walk and then walk a little more through all the tall buildings that they got there. I don't really want to go to the museums, I believe that some other time it would be really interesting, but not with my classmates.

I only know a few nice places in New York for visiting, and I really wish we could go, the first place that i have in mind that I wish to visit is Times Square, i believe it is one of the most amazing places in New York. The next place I'd like to visit would be, Central Park, the videos, photos, everything that I have seen about this place, has made me come up with the conclusion that it is one of the nicest and calmest places in New York. I'd love it if we could go to the top of the empire state building, I believe it has to be awsome to be up there! That thing is HUGE!! The last place I have in mind is the Jackson Hole, a good friend of mine told me it is the place that serves you the best, and the biggest burgers in New York! Gotta check it out.

Well, that finishes the list of places I want to visit, if we visit those places, I guess that would be my dream trip to New York, but I also wish to visit many other places, that i don't know of, because I'm sure they will be great.

SUMMER 2010

Once again I see myself starting school, it still warm outside but my summer vacations seem like they were a million years ago. Everybody says that there summer vacations flew right pass their eyes, mine were really slow. I'm not saying that my vacations were bad, they were probably the best I've ever had.

My summer started in late June, most of my friends had started their's almost a month ago, so i was really anxious to be "free". I woke up late every morning, made me some breakfast and I'd hit the streets with my board. Mornings would be long for nowbody did much, but you always ended finding someone to hang out. After so much skateing and walking, I would get hungr, so if I had money i could eat someplace, but if there was no cash I'd go back home for food. In the afternoon, I would go to the beach with my friends. On the weekends I would go with my family to our summer house in cantabria.

I followed this schedule until the end of July. The last week of July I went with my cousin to Mallorca. We stayed up north in a place called Alcudia. All we did there was sleep, eat, go to the beach, sleep, party, and we ate a little more.

I got home on the 1st of August, and went straight to my summer house in cantabria, I was there for about two to three weeks. In this time i celebrated my birthday, and many other for August is the month were most people from my family(including cousins, uncles, etc. etc.) were born.

August 14, I was getting an airplane with my buddy Bosco to Fuerteventura. We were eight days surfing. We met some really amazing people there with huge backrounds. Every morning a friend would come to our hotel to pick us up, he would take us to these amazing surf spots. We surfed until late afternoon. Later we would go take a nap to the hotel, get ready for dinner and later we would go out to party to these really nice locals there were all over town.

The end of the summer was crazy, i was constantley moving from Bilbao to Cantabria.
And well, it all came to an end, but I truly enjoyed it while it lasted

London Calling

I've never been to Paris, and I ain't never seen no queen in her undies as a fella says. But I'll tell you what, after seeing London, with my classmates, and all the stories that came with our trip, I guess I've seen something every bit as stupefyin that you could see in any of those places.

It's almost been a week since we came from London, and it feels like it's been decades since we landed in Loiu covered by dark clouds. It doesn't really matter how long ago the trip happened or how the wind was blowing, but all the things that happened, all the little moments that me and my classmates shared in Elizabeth's kingdom. Happily I remember all the things tha happened, at least the ones in witch I was present. Before we flew from Bilbao to London a few interesting things had already occured. I'm not going to start blabbering about every little tiny molecular thing that happened in the 2010 London school trip, "cuz", if I start, I ain't never gonna end, atleast today.

All I'm gonna say is that i had a great time, it could of been better, but, perfection is not always the best, at least thats what I think. I ate like an authentic pig, the only salad i ate was the salad a Double Angry Wopper, it's one of the Burgers available in the English Burger Kings, it's composed of two slices of meat, cheese, jalapeños, onion rings, tomato, and lettuce, pretty cool you know? Well I'll be leaving now, see you soon.

TECHNOLOGY VIDEO PROJECT

We have been given the task of creating a video. I have had the idea of a chase. Classic chase, robber robs a wallet, suddenly a cop stars chasing the robber, robber starts to run and the chase is on. We will be using Sony Vegas, so it will be a black and white movie, with some really cool effects, backwards clips, slow motion clips and much much more. Keep on checking my vlogs for more information!

GNU

Once again, i'll be talking about another free source initiative. It was developed by the FSF (Free Software Foundation) with the idea of creating a free softwear that can be modified and redistributed freely.
This big project was first started by Richard Stallman in the Masachusetts Institute of Technology in 1983.

LINUX

Unix-like computer operating systems are generaly named Linux. Linux is the most used Free-operating system. It is distributed free, just the same all open source programs are. Linux also includes some supporting softwear required like, the X Window System, the Apache web server, and the Gnome. Some very common applications used with linux are, Mozilla Firefox, and OpenOffice application

GIMP

Gimp is a free software graphics editor and it is used as an image retouching tool. With it you can crop, resize, and edit all your photos. You can also convert your photos into many different digital image photos. Another feature that Gimp has is the possibility of creating animated gifts! Just as Adobe Photoshop, Gimp has all type of options such as layers, masks, plug-ins and a lot more features.

Gimp is free, so it is a little limited, it is suiteable for amateur photo editors, and it everything you do by Gimp is intended to be printed by inkjet printers.

SCRIBUS

One more time i will be talking about another open source application. This time I will talk about Scribus. Scribus in an open source application, it is a desktop publishing application. It has a wide range of features compared to the non-free programs like Page-Maker, Some of it's many features are scalable vector graphics, CMYK color and ICC color managment. This program is available for Mac, Windows, and Mac.

APPLE IPAD

Apple recently released the new IPad, suposely it is the best way to experience the web, email, photos and video. The first time i saw it I thought "Buff, it's just an ITouch but a lot bigger" but I was wrong, it can do a lot more!

The IPad also let's you read books and newspapers in the way they were desighned, passing page by page one at a time. Another feature, is how to see your photos,, they are displayed in one stack, and with touching the screen once, you open the albums. You can also work with IWork from your IPad. But I think that the most inovating feature is the IBook application, with this application you can purchase books from the ITunes store, and display them on your "bookshelf".

I won't buy the IPad, primarly because of it's price, and because i wouldn't use it to much, but i do recomend it to any die hard Apple fan, or to anyone who is wondering what tablet computer, the IPad is a really good choice.

APACHE

Apache is an open source Web Server softwear. In 2009 Apache became the first web server with more than 10 million users. It is available for Unix, Windows, TPF, Mac, and a few more operating systems. One of the best features Apache has is the Virtual Hosting. What this feature allows you to do is to serve many different web pages from one apache instalation, this is commonly used in dynamic and static web pages.

Audacity

Audacity is a free audio editor softwear. It is part of the OpenSource Iniciative, and it is availabel for Mac., Windows, Lynux, and BSD.

With this program you can mix tracks, add different effects, you can even change the tracks pitch without changing the tracks speed. However, audacity doesn't include equalizer controls and sometimes you have to use plug-ins for some features.

I personally think it is great, i didn't know that a program like this one could be downloaded free, until I was asked to wright about it, so if you are looking for a simple audio editor softwear, Audacity is what your looking for, check it out, it's free!

GOOGLE WAVE

Google Wave is an online software application of Google that works as a personal communications tool. It is a web-based service program. It is designed so that it is used for e-mail, instant messages and social networking. It also includes translation to 40 different languages, spelling check and a couple more features (a lot!!). Google Wave is that it is constantly refreshed, so everything that appears there is appearing in real time!!!!

OPEN OFFICE.ORG

OpenOffice.org, commonly known as OpenOffice, it's an open source software application available for a number of different computer operating systems. It is distributed as a free softwear and it uses its own GUI toolkit. Since November 2009, OpenOffice works with over 110 languages.

OpenOffice.org was derived from StartOffice, it was developed by Star Division in August 1999. It was released in July 2000 with the aim of reducing the dominant market of Microsoft Office by providing a free and open alternative; later versions of StarOffice are based upon OpenOffice.org with additional proprietary components. The OpenOffice.org project is sponsored by Oracle Corporation .

I personally think it is a bit weak. I preffer using Microsoft Office, even though I get really mad every time I think of it's excesive price. So, until OpenOffice is a bit stronger and a little more comfortable to use, I'm going to be stuck with "good" old expensive Microsoft Office.

OPEN SOURCE INITIATIVE

Open Source Initiative is an organization dedicated to promoting an open source softwear.

The organization begun in February 1998, when it was founded by Bruce Perens and Eric S. Raymond. Eric S. Rymond was the president of OSI until Febuary 2005, when Michael Tiemann became president. Tiemann is the current president.

The movement began in 1998 by Jon Hall, Larry Augustin, Eric S. Raymond, and Bruce Perens.

The founders were unsatisfied with the softwears that were beeing sold at excessive prices, so they begun the "free software" movement. They hoped that open source would become a more persuasive argument to businesses. Raymond's commented "If you want to change the world, you have to co-opt the people who write the big checks."

The beginning of the open-source movement coincided with the dot-com boom in 1998─2000, and grew popular with Linux and the formation of many open-source companies. The movement was also caught by the mainstream software industry, some software companies such as Corel, Sun Microsystems, and even IBM started offering establishing open source in their computers.

The organization was suspended from operation as a California Corporation in 2009, and now has a current status of "active".

¡¡Arriba los ancianos y ancianas blogueros/as!!

Bueno amigos aqui os dejo unos links relacionados cona algunas cosas que he dicho antes.
